District 13-4A is a Hot Bed for High School Recruiting

The biggest highlight of a high school football player’s career is “National Signing Day” and East Texas continues to be a hot bed for solid recruits.

Across the state today there will be thousands of young men who will be signing letters of intent to play college football at the next level. There are some big time players that top the list from around East Texas and some of the best are coming out of District 13-4A.

Heading into the season, District 13-4A was said to be one of the toughest in the state and understandably with Longview (state finalist), Texas High, Sulphur Springs (Class 4A, Division II state champion), Marshall, Hallsville, Pine Tree and Mount Pleasant.

With Sulphur Springs bringing the Class 4A state championship back to the area, it’s only fitting that one of the hottest prospects in Texas calls Sulphur Springs home. Tyrik Rollison led the Wildcats to their first ever state championship this season and did it in dramatic fashion.

Rollison threw for 51 touchdowns this season combined for over 4,000 yards of offense for SS and will be heading to Auburn, choosing the Tigers over K State. “I’m just glad it’s over. I was getting so many calls, I had to change my number”, Rollison said. “We (Auburn and I) are a good fit and I want to do what I can to help the team.”

Fellow teammate Colton Nash was a big recruit in the area and is committed to Arkansas. Nash (6-6, 240 lbs) went with the Razorbacks because it just felt right. “After I left from my visit, I told my mom this is where I need to be”, said Nash, who had already made an early visit to Colorado and had interest from Auburn, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
